The Best Spring Buena Vista CO
A popular question in the Buena Vista Chamber of Commerce is, “What activities do you do here during spring?” While this is typically considered part of our “off-season” there is always a lot to do!
The valley begins warming up in April (though we can still get lots of snow this time of year). So enjoy a coffee and a muffin at The View Cafe in the sunshine first thing in the morning, then head to Cottonwood Pass and enjoy a day of snowmobiling with Colorado Adventure Rentals. Not a snow person, but still adventurous? Head to the ziplines at Browns Canyon Adventure Park or American Adventure Expeditions, or try some mountain biking in Fourmile!
Have you gotten your fill of adventure, but need a milder activity? Try a round of disc golf at the Buena Vista Disc Golf Course near the Buena Vista Whitewater Park, or get in some fishing on the Arkansas River with ArkAnglers. We also have horseback riding at Elk Mountain Ranch and Mt. Princeton Hot Springs.

And, of course, we have hiking and backpacking. Save the 14’ers until summer; this time of year it’s best to stay at lower elevations. Buena Vista has some great hikes like the Barbara Whipple trail that are easily accessible. The Colorado Trail usually opens up closer to Memorial Day.
We also have our camping Buena Vista CO and rafting Buena Vista CO.
In late spring you can also enjoy activities like rafting or kayaking. While the water is a little chilly, you’ll find lots of adventure (and wetsuits!) to warm things up at Noah’s Ark Whitewater Rafting or River Runners.

And of course, no matter which adventure you pick, wrap it up with a dinner in downtown Buena Vista, and a dip in our local hot springs.
