Mountainfilm on Tour to Screen at the Salida Steamplant Event Center on March 11, 2023

Mountainfilm on Tour brings a selection of culturally rich, adventure-packed and incredibly inspiring documentary films curated from the Mountainfilm festival in Telluride, Colorado. The tour will visit Salida at the Steamplant Event Center on March 11 at 7pm with films that explore themes connected to Mountainfilm’s mission of using the power of film, art and ideas to inspire audiences to create a better world.

Mountainfilm on Tour in the Upper Arkansas Valley is hosted by the Greater Arkansas Nature Association (GARNA). While hosting an inspiring collection of films, the show is also an opportunity to further GARNA’s environmental education and sustainability programming. This year’s film theme is the “Indomitable Spirit,” and features films about 73-year-old mountain biker Betty Birrell in “North Shore Betty”; confronting the access to the outdoors from Vasu Sojitra in “Ascend: Reframing Disability in the Outdoors;” and a playful film about “farming” powder turns in “The Farmer.”

The show kicks off on March 11 at 7pm, doors open at 6:30pm. Tickets for Mountainfilm on Tour in the Upper Arkansas Valley are on sale now at GARNA.org. The cost for each show is $15 for GARNA members and $20 for non-members. *Parental advisory notice: many of the films contain expletives, view discretion advised.

Through community collaboration, GARNA inspires a conservation ethic by providing educational opportunities and experiences so that those who live, work, and play in the Upper Arkansas Valley are motivated to take care of the natural resources and leave a legacy of responsible use of the natural environment. GARNA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit environmental organization based in Salida, Colorado. Become a member at GARNA.org.
