MOVING TO LEVEL ORANGE: WHAT IT MEANS FOR YOUR BUSINESS

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) recently decided that Chaffee County will be moving from Level Yellow to the more restrictive Level Orange. Yellow is classified as a level of “concern.” Orange is categorized as “high-risk.” This change for our county will take effect on Friday, Dec. 4, at 5 p.m.

Chaffee County Public Health (CCPH), along with key community partners, did everything in its power to keep our county in the Yellow Level. However, it quickly became obvious (with our latest, rapid increase in case count) that we would be required to move into the Orange Level.

If we all do the necessary work and follow the five commitments of containment as exemplified in our Chaffee’s Got HEART campaign, there is a chance we can move back to Yellow in the weeks to come. However, we will all need to make sacrifices to prevent moving to the more restrictive Level Red. To review the state’s capacity restrictions by color level, go here. This graphic provides a visual snapshot of restrictions for all types of businesses and activities.

Regardless of your sector, please continue following these guidelines as well:

• Continue to wear masks and physically distance.

• Conduct symptom and temperature checks for employees and refer symptomatic employees to the CDPHE Symptom Support tool (Additional Guidance).

• Employees who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms should not come to work.

• Employees who develop COVID-19 symptoms while at work should immediately notify their supervisor and be separated from others, sent home, and referred to state or company support services.

And please remember, we are still under a state-wide mask mandate which requires that every Coloradan older than 10 wear a mask or a face covering, over both mouth and nose, in all indoor public spaces. The Executive Order states indoor businesses must post signs at entrances that instruct customers that they must wear a mask when entering and moving around inside the business, and must refuse service to people who are not wearing masks. For more info visit: COVID-19 Questions and Answers about the Statewide Mask Order.

Chaffee County can get back to Yellow, but once again, we must ALL collectively work together to get back to a less restrictive level. We will get through this, but it’s imperative that we work together for the greater good of our community.
