Ark Valley Helping Hands is looking for a part-time project coordinator to join the team.

The Project Coordinator will provide administrative support and take the lead on projects for members, which includes volunteer coordination. 

Responsibilities include effectively communicating with the executive director, members, volunteers and the general public; handling the majority of logistics required for projects and Seasonal Service events; working closely with ED to plan and implement educational sessions; maintaining the database; and handling all incoming calls, requests and applications. 

The ideal candidate enjoys working for a small, mission-driven nonprofit. He/she will work independently in his/her home office; must be personable and able to guide projects and all involved participants. 

This position requires flexibility, as events and educational sessions will likely occur on evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Manage main incoming emails, calls and texts. 

  • Oversee ongoing service requests to ensure needs are met within 10 days of entry.

  • Manage the database.

  • Facilitate outgoing tax letters to all donors.

  • Assist with volunteerism and onboarding:

    • Contribute to recruitment of volunteers.

    • Handle initial communications for the volunteer onboarding process. 

    • Run background checks and obtain necessary documentation.

  • Help recruit members, process new member applications and coordinate warm welcomes through the volunteer welcome team.

  • Execute primary logistics and tracking systems for Seasonal Service and projects (activity bag distribution, produce distribution, snow removal). 

  • Oversee volunteer(s) who assist with office tasks.

  • Meet regularly with ED.  

  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.

  • Experience working with older adults in a community setting.

  • Nonprofit experience or similar experience.

  • Strong computer and organizational skills.

  • Current driver’s license and proof of auto insurance.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Attention to detail is necessary to thrive in this position.

  • Positive, strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Patient, reliable and flexible. 

  • Comfortable working with older adults and community members.

  • Knowledge of Word, spreadsheet programs and Google Workspace.

  • Able to work at a computer for several hours at a time. 

  • Ability to walk, bend, stoop, and repeatedly get up and down during the workday. 

  • Good driving record.

Part-time position: 25 hours per week. $22 an hour. Benefits include paid time off and holidays.
